WHAT TO EXPECT

Consultation
The first step is a one on one consultation with a Doctor to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, as well as potential treatment options.  Your first visit is designed for your doctor to learn more about you, your condition and your expectations to determine whether care will you meet your goals.
Examination
After your consultation, the Doctor will perform a complete neuromusculoskeletal (nerves, muscles, joints) examination to assess your range of motion, strength, posture, etc.  This is not painful and nothing will be done in our office without your consent.
X-Ray Studies
Your specific condition may require us to take x-rays to get a full evaluation of your condition.  X-rays help us rule out more serious conditions and enable the Doctor to assess the bones and any alignment issues that may contribute to the problem and assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you.  For your convenience x-rays may be taken in our office.  Our doctors closely analyze x-rays and use objective measurements to determine the severity of the condition.  Most people are amazed once they see their x-rays and can often immediately identify their misalignments and degeneration themselves.
MRI / CT Studies
Some conditions require advanced imaging to see soft tissues (discs, tendons, ligaments, etc.).  We work closely with several MRI/CT Facilities in the area to enable you to get the best possible clinical information about your condition.  Our Doctors use this clinical information to help determine your condition and the best treatment options for you.
Nerve Testing (EMG/NCV) Studies
Patients suffering from symptoms in their arms or legs (pain, numbness, tingling, weakness, spasm, etc.) would typically benefit from a “Nerve Test”.  This test scheduled and done in our office.  The test measures the strength and speed of the nerve impulses as they send signals in your arms &/or legs.  This information is extremely helpful in identifying the location of your problem and also to objectively measure the severity of the condition.
Recommended Action Plan (RAP)

Once all the necessary information and examinations have been performed, we will give you a Recommended Action Plan to answer the three most popular questions:

  • Can you help me?
  • What do you recommend that I do to get better?
  • How much is it going to cost?

If we can accept your case and help you, we discuss in detail exactly what procedures will be required to correct the cause of your problem.  If we are not the best treatment option for you, we will guide you to the type of practitioner that is best suited for your condition.

Treatment

For those patients we can accept, we begin treatment as soon as is possible and convenient for the patient.  Our treatments options vary greatly and may include any of the following:  Physical therapy, chiropractic care, spinal disc decompression, cold laser therapy, massage therapy, custom fit orthotics, trigger point therapy, ice, moist heat, muscle stimulation, traction, paraffin, cervical pillow, lumbar pillow, braces/splints, home exercises, nutritional recommendations, and referrals to outside practitioners for various treatments (surgery, acupuncture, pain management injections, etc).

We have the ability to tailor the “style” of treatment for your condition to suit your needs specifically.  We have many different chiropractic and physical therapy techniques or approaches available and can surely choose the appropriate combination to ensure both effectiveness and comfort for your care.

Wellness Program
Upon completion of your correction program, our goal is to help you return to your life activities.  Part of this process is helping you maintain the correction you achieved.  It is common for patients to require “maintenance” care.  Typical maintenance care may involve specific exercises for your condition and regular visits to our office for chiropractic adjustments.  The amount of exercises and frequency of the chiropractic maintenance adjustments will be determined based on your specific condition and will be prescribed for you individually.
